Our story and values

The farm is more than an escape

It’s a revelation of who we are and how we can reconnect with the land, the food we eat, and the communities around us that make life worth living.

Tz’ikin · Nawal of abundance

Tz’ikin is the Nawal of abundance

We named our farm after the energetic archetype of the bird — guardian of the earth and the seed in the Mayan cosmovision. It symbolises communication, freedom and abundance, which aligns perfectly with the goals of our project.

We believe that humans and nature are one and the same

and that conscious design is the key to ending our false sense of separation.

Our dream for La Granja

We decided to build a place where we could explore what this reconnection might look like. Using the Principles of Permaculture to help regenerate the land we bought, we designed a space around natural patterns — helping us meet the needs of those who interact with and depend on them, and resulting in the production of nutritious food and a diverse, healthy landscape.

May our farm serve as a self-regulating space for reconnection and exploration, where everyone is welcome to share, collaborate and harvest practical, profound lessons from ourselves, our community and nature.

The soul of the farm

Maria Perez

Farm Manager

Our neighbour and dear friend, Maria has been part of Granja Tz’ikin since its very first days. She began in the kitchen and now welcomes every visitor to our restaurant, making each of them feel at home. Without a doubt, she is a guardian — and the very soul — of the farm.
